FAQ

Do not worry! You fall into a group of the same beginners who want to learn martial arts. Our experienced trainers will teach you step by step, and in time you will definitely get comfortable.
Of course you can! We warmly welcome newcomers. One of the main missions of creating our gym was to spread interest in martial arts. If you don’t have special clothes, you can just wear a T-shirt and shorts. Remember that in kickboxing, muay thai and MMA you will need to kick, so make sure your shorts are flexible enough. There will be bouts for MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, so make sure your clothing fits snugly! And finally, whatever clothes you choose, be prepared to sweat a LOT in them!

While all sports involve risk, our policy is to put safety first.  As long as you follow the rules of the gym and the instructions of the trainers, training is very safe.  We have a very respectful and friendly training environment.  No one will put you in sparring if you don’t want to.  The workout is always tailored to your goals and desires.

Light to full contact sparring is not conducted until the students have reached a higher level.  Beginners may occasionally practice “contact sparring” which uses light taps instead of punches.  This exercise is for distance, timing and footwork training only and is completely safe.

If you still have fears and doubts about sparring, we recommend that you take a personal lesson with one of our instructors so that he smoothly prepares you for group sparring.

Yes, as long as you notify in advance that you will be away for more than 7 days in a row and your package has not expired for more than 2 months.  You will need to show us proof of travel in your passport.  Also, your membership cannot be suspended for more than 2 months for each package.

Yes.  If you do not have a gi, inform the administrator in advance, our trainer will provide you with a gi for a trial lesson.  Alternatively, you can take No-Gi grappling classes instead.  If you decide to continue with BJJ after this, you will need to purchase a gi, which can be done in our Fight Store.

We offer Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, Wrestling and MMA for kids and adults.  In addition, we offer strength and fitness classes.

Unfortunately no, you are only eligible for one trial lesson as scheduled.

We have a wide range of membership packages.  You can also study by paying a one-time visit without additional fees.

Our membership packages are listed here!

We do.  We have a dedicated fitness area.  We offer strength and conditioning classes designed to improve your fitness level.  Classes are possible in a group and individually with a trainer.  Join us and try!

All classes are held in groups.  If you prefer one-on-one training, you can contact us for more information.  Often our clients combine group classes with individual training with a trainer in order to achieve results faster.

It all depends on what you are going to do:

Bandages and boxing gloves are required for boxing, muay thai and kickboxing.

Leg guards and head guards are also essential for workouts where there are punches and kicks.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu requires a Gi.

But don’t worry – we’ll provide all the equipment you need for a trial lesson.  And you can buy all the necessary equipment in our gym at the reception.

There are many benefits to training jiu-jitsu at Deerfield Beach as BJJ is widely known for its combination of movements that helps develop coordination, endurance and cardiovascular strength.

Popularization of martial arts and a healthy lifestyle among young people and adults.  Our gym has about 300 students – people from various fields: office clerks, students, athletes, models, doctors, children from 4 years old and others.  We do what we love the most – we give joy through sports, we create a community of like-minded people and lovers of a healthy lifestyle.  Our results are satisfied customers and great reviews on Google.

No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a variant of BJJ without the traditional Gi uniform.  Students will wear clothing such as leggings, rash guards, etc. No-Gi BJJ also requires much more precision in movement.

Beginning students should always start with a traditional gi to build on their basic techniques and footwork first.  However, there are no strict conditions from which one should start in the first place.

We will always devote more time to building a base for students who join us as newcomers.

No-Gi or No-Gi BJJ training is heavily focused on using your balance to defeat opponents of various body types.  It also pays great attention to the technique of a secure grip, joint locks and wrestling techniques.

While there is no right or right answer that requires more effort, No-Gi requires more precision in movement.

For those who start from 0 will be taught the basics of self-defense and the basics of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, we adhere to BJJ training standards.

Students will start with white belts and progress to blue, purple, brown and finally black belts on their way with us.

Intermediate to pro level fighters in BJJ or No-Gi BJJ, we have a class for all levels that focuses on skill set development.

There is also a weekly training open mat where you can practice wrestling with different levels of students.

It is one of the most effective martial arts for self defense.

By lowering your opponent to the ground and keeping him there, you can attack for submission.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or No-Gi BJJ allows anyone to use leverage, grappling, and positional movements to defeat a larger, stronger opponent.  As a fact, a more fragile girl can cope with a man by mastering the skills of BJJ.

Muay Thai at Deerfield Beach is suitable for all skill levels.  This is a sport that can get you in fantastic shape as it focuses on a full body workout.  Because only in Thai boxing are used the famous “eight weapons” according to the number of limbs of the body – punches, elbows, kicks and knees.

Experience it for yourself by joining our free trial class today!

Students will be required to provide their own equipment.  It is also the most hygienic method compared to COVID-19 measures.

In addition to your own equipment, our gym also sells gloves and shin guards at a special price for our members.

Definitely yes!  Students can enter competitions and there are many competitions depending on your experience/level.

Students who are more advanced or confident in their skills can take part in local events to see how well they can handle competitive pressures and gradually work their way towards becoming a regular by competing for world titles.

MMA is a complete combat sport consisting of punching, grappling and submission.

Practitioners will need to learn all aspects of mixed martial arts in order to be proficient in the sport.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world, featuring professional fighters from the most prominent MMA organizations.  Big names like Conor McGregor, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey just to name a few.

Because of its difficulty, it is an exciting sport that can be used as a recreational workout.  With proper training, you can achieve huge results in a short period of time.

Contact us today to find out more about our MMA classes.

As in any other sport, it is possible.  However, our experienced mixed martial arts instructors with current titles from various tournaments and championships can provide you with more than just the basics of mixed martial arts training.  You will get a unique and interesting experience, have a great time with benefit, the reward for all this will be good physical shape and good mood.

MMA is a more varied and complex sport than boxing.  MMA revolves around a combination of different techniques from different disciplines of martial arts – this is the same boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, taekwondo, wrestling, bjj, etc.

Boxing, on the other hand, focuses more on punching and kicking agility.

Not at all.  Absolute beginners can join.  We also conduct classes for amateurs and professionals in separate groups.  Contact us and tell us about your experience or lack of it, so that we can find the right group for you.

It depends on the discipline, day and time of the class you choose.  Our group classes are usually attended by 6 to 20 people.

We will provide boxing gloves and equipment for a trial session.  Hand wraps optional (recommended).  If you have your own boxing gloves and equipment, that’s great.  It is recommended to bring a water bottle and a towel.

The gym sells all the necessary equipment for kickboxing at affordable prices.

A comfortable dry-fit or dry-fit t-shirt/t-shirt with shorts/exercise leggings is fine.  Shoes are not required. Classes are barefoot.

Upon arrival, please tell our receptionist your name and which activity you are attending and follow the simple instructions.  Then you will be directed to your group and introduced to your coach.  Have a nice workout!

Yes.  When you join our trainings, talk to our trainer(s) and outline your goals and desires.  We have vast experience and opportunities to grow champions.  Like kickboxing, muay thai, MMA or bjj fights.

Give up your smartphone and TV an hour before bedtime.

 Do morning exercises and stretching.

Wrestling is a real sport (Olympic sport).  Professional wrestling is an entertainment show designed for shock and theatrical value.  Safety is the main concern in the fight.  Mats are designed and used for wrestling.  Protective devices such as head protection, knee pads and adjustable shoes are used.  Wrestling is a sport of control (not violence) to achieve a tangible, measurable result.

Wrestling can ignite competitive drive, and despite the tension on the mat, many successful wrestlers are respectful yet confident and humble off the mat.  Respect, compassion and sportsmanship are shown even at the highest levels of competition, as seen at the end of matches.  Essentially, wrestling is unique in that it can be aggressive without being violent, as the goal is NOT to destroy or harm the opponent, but to outwit and gain control.

Sooner or later, every fighter is defeated.  Nobody likes to lose, but the mentality of wrestlers is to turn a loss into a new challenge.  It is the ability to overcome adversity on and off the mat that really makes a wrestler.

Wrestling is different in that during the competition, each athlete must rely on their individual capabilities.  You must face adversity one on one and call upon your own will to win.  Each wrestler on a team has some potential and responsibility for scoring, so it’s unlikely that superstars will lead a team with the most points.

Our classes are for both men and women.  The curriculum is no different and we set the same standards regardless of gender.  In our experience, women usually don’t hesitate to “beat up” their sparring partners.  This was very clear when we recently ran a Valentine’s Day promotion and 75% of the requests we received were from women who were keen to bring their boyfriends or husbands to the American Combat Gym.

There are definitely some similarities!  Especially in the fact that both sports have punches, but the similarities end there.

The fact is that boxing is only punches and defensive actions in the form of dexterous movements with legs and head tilts.  The boxing arsenal is very large and this is truly a beautiful royal form of martial arts.

Thai boxing is all about toughness and a wider range of techniques through punches, elbows, knees and kicks.  Not without reason, MMA fighters like to mix this style into their game on the battlefield, which makes them more dangerous in close combat due to cuts from the elbows and sharp knees.
